Maverick was on his last day at the OC Shelter, suffering from serious injuries from being hit by a car and available to rescue only. The shelter was expecting an onslaught of strays the next day – July 4th – and needed to make room. Plus, Maverick could only go so long without treatment and no rescue had offered to take him. The following is a sample of potential costs incurred to rescue a “typical” dog.  Some of our rescued pups require additional medical care above and beyond standard costs.  Our adoption fees help cover these costs, and any extra funds go toward costs of rescuing special needs dogs.
